Quad City Wedding Photographer Rick Jennisch
Favorite Quote: "All photographers have to do, is find and catch the story-telling moment." ~~~Alfred Eisenstaedt
Favorite Photographers: Alfred Eisenstaedt, Yousuf Karsh, Annie Leibovitz, and wedding photographers, David Beckstead, Bambi Cantrell, Cliff Mautner, and Jerry Ghionis to name a few.
Favorite Photography Style: Photojournalism and documentary wedding photography is my favorite style and the majority of images I capture fall into this category. A good wedding photographer will anticipate the important moments of the day and capture them as they happen. instead of staging and directing the events of the day. I also love elegant, creative, and romantic wedding portrait photography of the Bride and Groom together and alone. I always find the great light and the best pose to make my clients look great on their wedding day. For wedding parties my style is more relaxed and editorial, rather than all stiff and posed. I like to capture casual wedding party images with the attendants interacting and having fun together, rather than all look at the camera and smile. Creativity and image quality are always my goals within my style of shooting weddings.
My story: My love for photography began when I bought my first film SLR, a Minolta XG1. No auto-focus or program mode, so I was forced to learn the technical aspects of photography. Eventually I built my own darkroom and developed my own pictures of people, landscapes, barns, etc. When I got serious about photography, I bought my first medium format equipment and started photographing more people and portraits, with my first wedding as a professional photographer in the year 2000. Almost every image that year was a formal posed shot!
My style has changed, along with the wedding photography industry, but shooting early on with an all-manual, medium format camera has served me well today. I don't have to think too much about the technical aspects and can focus on composition and creative use of light, anticipating the moments. I want your wedding images to be unique and fun, with elements of creativity and art, as I capture each part of the day, and I want your album to look unique in the imagery, the design, and the style. No two weddings are the same, and your wedding photos and album should not look the same either!
More about Rick: I am passionate about photography. It’s not unusual to find me spending hours editing and creating after a photo shoot. I have the rare opportunity in life to do what I love and create images that people will cherish for generations to come!
Even more about Rick: I have a life outside of photography too! I enjoy spending time with my daughters, my girlfriend, family and friends. I like the Chicago sports teams, backyard BBQ's, good restaurants, visiting Chicago and other traveling (when I can find the time!), ocean waves and beaches, and beautiful sunsets. Usually I have an eye out for the perfect shot, which can be found anywhere---always looking for new ideas I can use for your wedding or photo session!
